November 29th-Rolled Paper Wreath
Hi everyone! It's Michelle here and today I want to show you one of my favorite ways to make a paper wreath for Christmas, or any other holiday. I've seen this wreath different places on the internet, but I've adapteded it to what I wanted and can be adapted for pretty much any style or size. This project is super easy to do, but does take a bit of time, so be prepared to do some cutting and rolling while watching a good movie. It'll go much quicker that way. Believe me!
Okay. For this project you'll need
-a wreath that can withstand hot glue:
I used a 12" molded-urethane foam wreath I picked up from Michaels
-paper:
I used 8 12x12 sheets
-hot glue
-embellishments such as sequins, rhinestones, ribbon, die cuts.....
Step 1:
Decide on your papers. I ended up using 7 different patterns and used 12x12 sheets. You could use any size, it will just affect the size of your rolls and how many strips you'll need to cut. Cut your paper into strips approximately 1/4" wide. Don't worry about being precise. I actually like the look of slightly different sizes.
Step 2:
This is the step to do while watching tv! You need to roll your paper. You can roll your paper around a pencil or pen, like I"m doing in the first picture.
OR....you can use a little trick my husband came up with half way through my rolling. Take a map pencil, or a pencil that hasn't been sharpened or doesn't have an eraser, and slice a little slit vertically through the end of the pencil. You can then slide the end of a strip of paper into the slit and it will stay there while you roll the paper. It is much, much quicker this way.
You'll end up with lots of these -
Step 3:
After you have a pile of curly strips, you can start your gluing.
I wanted my wreath to have dimension, so I glued some with the ends sticking up, some rolled loosely, some rolled tightly, and all at different angles. Some are inside others and they are all very close to each other. You'll glue them to the front, inside, and outside, but not the back. Remember that it needs to lay flat against the wall when you are done.
A trick for filling in bare spots and spots on the very edge is to cut some of your strips in half and then roll them tightly. It gives the wreath a little more dimension and fills in all the gaps nicely.
Keep gluing until your wreath is all filled in.
Step 4:
It's time to embellish! I added some rhinestones to my dotted paper. I tied twine around a loop or two. I cut designs from a sheet of patterned paper and glued them to the loops. I even cut out some small mittens and connected them with twine and glued them on. You can add anything and everything - buttons, tiny little gift bows, badges....the options are endless.
Step 5:
Hang it and enjoy! I chose to hang my wreath without a ribbon, but it would be very cute hanging from a ribbon as well. Pin It **Designer projects are not always linked in our posts, but you can always find their blogs in our sidebar or in the staff tab**

November 28th-Mixed Media Canvas Wreath
Hi, Scrappers! Practical Scrapper Jayma here today with a mixed media project that will help you use up your scraps of Christmas scrapbook paper! Be sure to scroll all the way down for my video tutorial.
My goal for this project was lots of depth, which I achieved through layering.
I began with a 12" x 12"canvas that I painted green. I then stamped CTMH's Universal Backgrounds music notes stamp onto tissue paper using black StazOn ink to be sure it didn't bleed. I tore the edges of the tissue and used Mod Podge to seal it onto the canvas and let it dry overnight. I then filled a Spray Pen with 4 drops of Tulip re-inker, equal parts water, and 2 drops of Pearl Paint for shine. I sprayed this on the canvas for added texture.
For the wreath, I gathered all the scrapbook paper I wanted to use and cut it into different-width strips. (This project is a good way to use up your scraps—I used paper I've had in my stash for years.) I started making lots of accordian-fold flowers in different sizes and depths, then arranged them in layers onto the canvas. (See video below for tutorial on making the flowers.) I adhered all the flowers with hot glue. Be prepared to use A LOT of glue...it's hard to get them to lay exactly where you want them. :) I finished off the flowers with lots of sparkle: Bling buttons, Shimmer brads, and Rhinestone brads from Close to my Heart.
I cut the little pennants and letters from my Cricut using the Art Philosophy cartridge. To create the glitter surface, I mixed equal parts Mod Podge with Martha Stewart Sterling glitter and brushed it onto the paper. I did this 3 times, letting it dry between each layer. I used a heat gun to help the drying along, which gave the pennant the wavy look I was going for. Since the glitter surface is slick, I used Liquid Glass, a strong adhesive, to adhere the letters. I believe Glossy Accents is similar.
Tada, the finished project!
Thanks so much for reading! I'd love for you to pop by my blog and say hi!

November 25th- Cards and Layout
Hi everyone! Jodi here today to share with you what I have been creating so far this Christmas! I have started to create my Christmas Cards, and dug into my stash, using Imaginisce line: Cottage Christmas! I love the bright colors of this line, and who can not resist a cute Santa Gnome? Here are the four cards I created:

For this card I added some googly eyes on the Gnomes! I used my Copics to color in the Holly Stamp and added the I-Rock Heart Gems on top!
This card was inpsired by actually getting my sewing machine out and dusting it off! I created a quilt look, and used my sewing machine to stitch it all together.
Another cute card where I used the I-Rock to add some extra detail to the borer at the top.
I used some dies and punches to create this layout! Added the sentiment with some twine to the button.
Finally my first Christmas layout of the season:
Thanks for letting me share my newest Christmas Creations! Stop by my blog, for more Christmas Inspiration soon!

Pocket watch tree ornament
When I saw this Tim Holtz pocket watch I knew I had to make something with it! I don't often stray from layouts and the odd card, but this project was so quick and fun, I couldn't help myself. I started by cutting a piece of self adhesive cork to fit the inside of the watch, then I painted it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam, and some Distress ink. I punched several branches from pieces of green patterned paper and plain cardstock using a Martha Stewart punch. I layered the punched shapes, my photo and mini Maya road frame which I coloured gold using an Elmer's Painters paint marker. I then added some red berries with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen, and for a bit more sparkle, I added a few dabs of Picket Fence Distress Stickles and some iridescent seed beads.

Originally I made this as a Christmas gift, but now I'll have to make more so that I can keep one!

Christmas Collage
Brenda is here today with a great way to use up leftover holiday papers and embellishments. First, choose the size you want to create. I used a clear acrylic frame that is 11 x15. Cut your pp scraps into various sizes of rectangles and squares and lay them down on your base until you have a pattern that you like. Now you can start adding embellishments. I added a Christmas bingo card, some rubons, stickers, a tag, and a few felt flower and buttons. Just keep in mind that any dimensional embellishments have to be thin enough to fit inside the frame. As an alternative, you can add some dimensional elements to the outside of the frame, like I did with the bow, large felt flower and jingle bells at the top corner. My collage is large enough to hang on the wall, but it would also be fun to make several smaller ones and have a grouping on the mantel or tabletop.
